Strange that we often begin by describing what we do for our coin, but it's a good place to start. A fledgling graphic designer, working on 3 magazines at a small studio. This blog is a way for me to keep track of the things I see and experience, to record all the little bits and pieces I seem to accumulate. Dear to my heart are of course magazines and books, fabrics, patterns, paper and prints, and things with a little bit of history.

Ann Shelton keeps coming back into my life

Circa 2006 web design tutor at uni shows us ann’s website which she has designed, as an example of clean design; agreed. Back then her portfolio of work was much smaller, but when I saw her ‘peephole’ pieces this year at the Auckland Art Fair, I knew I remembered her name from somewhere. And then…I saw these bookshelf photographs, and clicked through to her website. Old books and the shops they reside in are some of my favourite things, I even like the smell (but not the silverfish you find in their covers, urg). I have a small collection of my own but nothing as beautiful as these. I couldn’t find out much information about them, they seem to all be from one collection and chronicle different things, but all covered in some kind of fabric….mysterious.

Either way her photos can keep appearing all they like, spot on I say.
